The Nutcracker

Friday morning, our little card from the advent calendar contained some scripture versus that talked about how people rejoiced at the birth of the Savior.  The last scripture was from Doctrine and Covenants 136:28 which reads:

If thou art merry, praise the Lord with singing, with music, with dancing,
and with a prayer of praise and thanksgiving.

The assignment on the bottom of the card was to attend the Nutcracker that evening.  The kids were so excited they were jumping around and hugging each other.  Attending the Nutcracker was one of the traditions that we passed on last year because I couldn't fit it into our pathetic student budget.   But the kids missed it so much that after extensive searching, I found a production that was a little bit of a drive, but was within our price range (and they offered discounts to students!!!  Hooray!)

Our "little drive" ended up lasting nearly 2 hours while we battled  Friday evening traffic and braved John's California/Rimouski/Chicago driving skills.  But we made it, alive and on time.  Will did great and lasted nearly the entire show, just watching.  We had great seats where we could see right down into the orchestra pit, which the kids loved!
