We currently own two television sets. The first is a 27" tube TV that was a gift for our wedding nearly 13 years ago. There is a big gaping hole where the power button once was, and if you are lucky enough to have a long, skinny finger, you can reach in and turn it on. The other is a 10" TV/VCR combo that John has had since he was a kid. Depending on the weather and the amount of cloud cover, the 10" will sometimes pick up a few channels with its rabbit ears, but that's about it. Actually, now that we are use to no TV, it is nice in a way, and I doubt if we will ever get cable or dish again.
Having said that, this was the conversation that I had with Avery last night on the way to the library.
Mom: Aves, what did you do at Celia's house today?
Avery: Oh, we watched (insert name of some Disney Channel teen melodrama). They don't have a VCR mom, they just have to record it on their TV. They have one of those big, old flat screens.
Mom: Oh, really? Wow.
Avery: Yea, actually all of my friends have those old flat screen TVs. I wonder when they will get a new one like ours.
